HISTORY OF STEEPLECHASING
The Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation preserves the sport’s storied history through
an extensive library of both sanctioned and non-sanctioned steeplechase racing videos dating
back to 1990. Created by Hunt Cup Productions and past TGSF President Sam Slater, all
of these races are either in VHS or DVD format. To preserve the history and to make these
races more accessible for viewing, TGSF has digitized these videos and uploaded to our
YouTube channel.
In addition, the National Steeplechase Association holds a library of annual Steeplechase
yearbooks, dating back to the early 1900s. Most of these volumes are preserved in hard
copy only.
